New Year's Eve - A Disappointment!

Many people look forward to the New Year for a new start on old habits. Many plan to celebrate New year's eve at home with Friends and Families. Fewer plan to celebrate at a bar, restaurant or an organized event the whole night. While the rest don't plan to celebrate at all.
Well, celebrating New Year with a glass of champagne at a large party is not really my cup of tea.
If you're living your life the right way, you don't need one night of the year to force yourself to have an awesome time with people you love, because you're doing that throughout the year anyway. Also, everything go so expensive with the YOLO feel #
Anyway,
There is a poor little girl, 12 years old, works as a housemaid whose mother is suffering from a disease called paralysis.
Since this happened she left school and earns money so that she can buy healthy food on daily basis and some expensive medicines for her mother.
Today, she was called early for work and she would get Rs 100 extra for that. She was Happy.
Requesting her neighbour aunt to see her mother in a while if she needs something. She went off to work happily.
There was a party in the house where she works and was called for some extra help. she saw more than 9 dishes were getting prepared and her mouth started watering. she controlled her temptation and finished her work.
While going back home, she felt something was certainly different today. She was unable to understand Why people were buying so many things on this particular day. It was not the day of any festival or any religious ceremony.
The town appears to be different. Crowded places, so much decorations, lightings? Strange!
She scratched her head and sat on a seat to take a little rest. She was tired. And started thinking about her good old days of school and when her mother use to cook food for her.
As it was getting dark she started walking towards her home and suddenly realized she had to buy some medicine for her mother.
At the shop. Before leaving, she said to the shopkeeper "If you don't mind, May I ask you something?"
With a sweet smile , Sure! said the shopkeeper.
Why are all the markets crowded today? these decorations? Is there anything special? What is the reason?
The shopkeeper said, tomorrow it's new year. So people are buying things because they want to celebrate that day. With that, the shopkeeper offered a chocolate to the girl, wishing her a happy new year. Delighted she was.
While crossing the road, she saw some lovely, pretty and rich personalities enjoying and entering in a big lighted hotel.
Moving forward, another question comes in the little mind.
What happens if you celebrate New Year? she asked this to her neighbour aunt.
I don't know this. But they say if the first day of the year is good, the rest of the year will also be good, said the aunt.
She was confused thinking how she should celebrate it. She doesn't have all the money in the  world.
----
She suddenly woke up in the middle of the night thinking about the new year. She could hear the sounds of the music. she was still. Thinking of the first day of the New Year. Her mind concluded that New means not old and everything will be new the next day.
She prayed for her mother's health and happiness.
As she saw the rays coming in from the window. She went out to see the sunrise. She wanted to see the New Sun. She tried to feel the newness.
Not a living soul as she walked out on the road. Not even birds had started chirping. It was cold. She wanted to confirm if there was any difference.
At about 9 a.m , it was time for a cup of tea for her mother. so she went out to buy half litre of milk. She saw that most of the shops were closed whereas they used to be open by this time.
With a down heart she was going back, a lavish car passed by throwing bottles out of the window on the (Govt.) Road. She picked up one to see what it is. She realized that it's alcohol.. and leaned in the thoughts of how her father died as an alcoholic.
During day time, she fed her mother with the stale food.
She had to buy rice and a vegetable. She used to spend Rs 40 every evening so that her mother could eat something healthy. She saw the shop was closed. It was 6 p.m. And she remember the shop remained open till 10 p.m.
She was surprised and asked a person as "Why is the shop closed?"
It's New year today and the owner has a party in his house. You can come tomorrow.
She was Sad.
Thinking that she and her mother would have to sleep empty stomach on the very first night of the new year.
She did not like the New Year at all.
----
Things are bad but not impossible.
We're still talking about a person who at the very least can be expected to grow up, study, eat food, make friends, watch the sunrise, have ups and downs etc.
I'd never say things aren't that bad, because they are.
We can turn things around.

At the end of the year, like at the end of life, remembering all that happened, thanking for all the good and at the same time remembering where we lack. Give Thanks and ask forgiveness.

P.S- Just a reminder! :)
